Formation The Major superiors are responsible for the formation. For the effective and efficient execution of this important responsibility of formation, a formation team is appointed. This team meet together once in a while under the leadership of Superior General and discuss important matters about formation. A hand book is made available to each formator. General Formation Secretariat meets twice a year to evaluate the programmes and to make future plans.
Vocation Promotion
We take special interest in promoting good vocations from the Syro Malankara Church by giving motivation to the families. From childhood on wards we keep in touch with children by giving awareness about vocation. Every year we are conducting vocation camps in parishes and we are participating in the vocation camps conducted by various dioceses.
We have a vocation promoter in General level. She is responsible for making the programmes for vocation promotion and to give animation to all the provincial vocation promoters. In each province we have a group of vocation recruiters. They used to visit the parishes, schools and distribute leaf lets and pictures to the girls. Also visit the families of those who are interested for religious life.
Initial Formation
This formation period is for 4 years. One year of Aspirancy, one year of Postulancy, one year of Canonical Novitiate and one year of 2nd year Noviciate, along with five months regency including one month exposure programme.
At the end of the second year Novitiate there will be an intense formation for four months. This time they will be given 40 days retreat and an intense study about vows and religious life. Those who have real commitment to surrender themselves to the eternal love, request to make vows. Then they are permitted to make the first profession. Every stage of initial formation there is specified syllabus and hand book which is given to each formation staff. To visit formation houses and to co-ordinate the formation programmes we have formation co-ordinators in General and Provincial level.
Temporarily Professed Sisters
For the temporarily professed, every year they are given animation for three times. During this time they try to deepen their prayer life and build up the closeness with mutual trust. According to the charism of the Congregation they engage in the apostolic activities. At the same time they try to be professionally qualified.
Fifth year, juniors are called together for one year for the juniorate Course staying in a common house (Aluva) under the Generalate. They attend one year theological course at CMC juniorate, Alua. At the end of this period they are permitted for final profession.
On going Formation
Ratio - According to the exhortation of Vita Consecrata (1996) we have been trying to formulate the ratio of our Congregation since then. In 2008 we completed it and given to each sister. Now we are giving animation to each stage of formation separately according to the ratio. Besides, in between, we are giving training for apostolic mission in the light of our charism, and we have provided animators for each stage and made the necessary arrangements for getting spiritual direction to each sister.
