Social Work
With a view to active participation and implementation of the congregation's mission statement, welfare programs are provided, These help the most oppressed, socially disadvantaged and marginalized sections of the community. Medium and long term planning ensures, human and financial resources are focused on priorities which include.
Boarding House :
A boarding house provides accommodation for one hundred and fifty orphans and semi orphan students. It offers them free education, board, food, clothing, books and learning materials. Hundreds of children have benefited from this project.
Bala Bhavan (Asha Kiran) :
It is a free boarding hostel and care centre for school going children. It provides a support, facility for abandoned and socially displaced children who come from marginalized disadvantaged strata in society.
Day Care Centre
It is a free day care centre for socially disadvantaged working parents. Young children are cared for and provided with a meal.
People provide a network of services, recreation, healthcare, counseling, food and clothing.
Retreats are conducted for young people to encourage them to take better care of their elderly responsibilities.
Welfare Scheme :
Amala Vice Province campaigns regularly against governments, to maintain basic amenities, like electricity, transport, social security, old age pensions, widow pensions, ration card and other infrastructures for tribal and rural people.
Training & Empowerment Projects:
Awareness programs on STD, HIV, AIDS, alcoholism, abortion and family planning, are implemented to create an awareness of social issues. Priority is given to socially disadvantaged and marginalized people within the dioceses.
Mahila Sanajam
Women are taught life skills on how to maintain economic stability and budgeting. They are also taught work skills which will enable them to become self sufficient.
